This is a masterpiece that luxuriously uses Enshu cotton pongee, a traditional textile that has been preserved since the Edo period in the Enshu region centered on Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
“Enshu Cotton Pongee” is a fabric that is mainly characterized by its striped pattern. Mr. Morimoto of Kitaya Shoten then dyes it with borders (horizontal stripes) using chew-dyeing, and the stripes of the original fabric overlap with the chew-dye borders, creating a completely different atmosphere and creating an interesting finish.
Even retro-style stripes can be made with just woven fabric, giving it a pop and cute look.
