New Edo dyeing: Marukyu Shoten's Chusen dyeing yukata
"Large Scales"
The large scale pattern turned out very interesting. A design from the late Taisho era to the early Showa era with attractive swaying lines.
The semicircle that was also in the original design has been reproduced exactly as it was.
The size is 40cm wide cloth.
It can also be worn by those with longer sleeves.
The fabric is a slub fabric that is 85% cotton and 15% linen.
"Tokyo Chusen"
Chusen is known for hand towels and yukata. Here in Tokyo, dyeing is recognized as a traditional industry, and craftsmen still glue patterns onto the fabric by hand and dye it by hand.
The best feature of chuzome is that the dye is literally poured from above onto the stacked fabrics, so there is no difference between the two sides of the dyed fabric.
In this way, the pattern is dyed to give it a unique soft look that is not found in printed products.
I hope that you can also see the smudges and fluctuations in the pattern as a sign of handmade work.
