Flying squirrel coat made from Enshu cotton

1 lesson 120 minutes including material cost ¥12980 (11800+tax)

Making a Momonga coat using Enshu cotton fabric woven with soft slub yarn from Hamamatsu, the manufacturing town, is a popular challenge in Japanese sewing classes. The flying squirrel coat is sewn stitch by stitch using carefully selected fabrics selected by our store, and is also recommended as a handmade gift for a loved one. Not only can it be used as a thin layer, but it can also be used to protect your neck from the cold in winter. Made of cotton material that is gentle to the touch, it is useful in summer as a protection against air conditioning, and is great for all seasons! !

[How to make a reservation for making a Momonga coat]

Please make a reservation for the Japanese sewing class and purchase a lesson ticket that includes the cost of materials.

① Purchase Momonga Coat materials + lesson ticket online

After purchasing the Momonnga Coat Lesson Ticket with Materials, please reserve your desired lesson date. There are three basic color options; please select your preferred color at the time of purchase. If you would like to see and consider the colors in person, we would appreciate it if you could check them at our physical store in advance. After purchasing online, changes to the color on the day of the lesson can be accommodated if stock is available, but as of October 17th, the number of materials is limited to a few pieces each, so there may be cases where changes cannot be made.

It can be completed in one session, so if you are far away, please feel free to join us while taking a walk around Asagaya. We will also lend you sewing tools, so you can come empty-handed! Please feel free to contact us if you have any ideas.

This project can be completed in one lesson, as the preparatory steps have been completed: soaking in water → preparing two pieces of approximately 40cm x 150cm → joining the two pieces together to create a piece measuring approximately 80 x 150cm. This is a recommended task for the first lesson, as the rough seams of the cotton material woven with slub yarn are not noticeable.

The Enshu cotton material is from Ikenuma Weaving Studio Chiori.

The fabric for the teaching materials is from Enshu Momen and Ikenuma Ori Kobo. Even though it is called Enshu Momen, it has different expressions depending on the type of thread used. In this course, we are preparing "Slab" as the material for Momonga Coat. Slab is one of the names for yarn, which is made by twisting yarns with different knot lengths at irregular intervals. The thickness of the thread changes gently, giving you a unique texture. You can wash it at home! It grows softer and softer with each wash.
